love to support my local businesses in any way I can. I am a huge fan of Frontside Grind™ coffee shop in North Conway. The owners, Laura and Austin, know their craft. The service rocks. The décor cool.
I was there last week when a stranger asked me if I had ever tried “The Meal,” a peanut butter and banana concoction chock full of protein, that really fills you up (hence the name). I had not. Being the adventuresome kind of gal that I am, I went for it. It was nothing short of delish!
The next morning I was craving that healthy, nutty-deliciousness of a smoothie I had for breakfast the day before. Unfortunately I was heading in the opposite direction of Frontside so I decided to attempt to whip up my own version of “The Meal.” Cha Ching!!! First attempt. Perfect. Either I am really good, or I just got really lucky. Either way I was a happy camper. It was amazing. I had to share.
2 peeled bananas, frozen
¾ cup of milk (whole milk, skim milk, almond milk or soy milk)
½ cup quick cooking oats
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
1 Tablespoon honey (feel free to substitute Maple Syrup or agave)
½ cup ice
½ cup all natural peanut butter (almond butter would be good too)
· Add all ingredients in a blender. Puree until smooth, about 2 minutes. Enjoy.
Chef’s Note: Although I am sharing this yummy recipe, I still highly recommend you head on over to the Frontside Grind™ and try “The Meal” or any of their other yummy items off the menu. Grab a seat on the spacious patio, read the paper or just chit chat with some friends. The Frontside Grind™ is located at 2697 White Mountain Highway in North Conway, NH (http://www.frontsidecoffee.com). I don’t think their recipe includes cinnamon, but I felt like kicking it up a notch. It worked.
